Our love for rare and beautiful objects isn't limited to those of the horological variety! In addition to our perpetual treasure hunt for great watches, we cast a wider net into the world of vintage objects, a practice that, since our founding, has yielded a trove of finds we happily share during the holiday season each year.
From vintage clocks to pocket knives, lighters to diving instrumentation, old-world ashtrays to desk sculptures — these are the types of mementos that heavily tug on our nostalgic heart strings and further sate our impulse for preservation and storytelling.
Unfortunately we can't keep them all...
This particular find is a vintage Swissair promotional ashtray. Produced in Switzerland by Bühler in the late 1950s, it features a wide metal base with the ‘Swissair’ wordmark printed in relief and an DC-8 jetliner with its distinguishable narrow body mounted on an arm with swivel mount soaring atop. Chrome plated with fine detailing to the fuselage, engines, and emblazoned with a red painted tail stabilizer element with Swiss cross livery, this piece add shine to your space.
Whether used as intended, as a display piece, or a handsome catchall for your daily EDC, this lovely midcentury object makes for one hell of a watch-adjacent collectable!
